Senior Scientist
Position Summary: CoolCAD Electronics LLC is looking for a self-motivated Senior Scientist well versed in a variety of aspects of electronics design to be part of team working on several projects related to extreme environment device, circuit and system design. The major responsibility of the Senior Scientist will be to design, develop and prototype Silicon Carbide based devices, circuits and systems that are able to work at extremely high temperatures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Scientist will have very unique responsibilities including the development of physics based device models, device simulation tools, compact model development, circuit design using SiC MOS based devices, and prototyping of high power converter systems. In addition, the Senior Scientist will also work on other projects currently being undertaken by CoolCAD Electronics. These include cryogenic temperature device and circuit model development using 2D device simulation tools as well as compact models using Verilog-A. Further, the position will require a close collaboration with other senior members of the CoolCAD Electronics technical and management teams with an aim to writing proposals, making presentations, and attending conferences to present research work.
Specific Duties:
- Carry out research, development and prototyping of Silicon Carbide and other wide bandgap materials based high temperature high power electronics.
- Develop 2D device simulators and CAD tools for high power high temperature applications.
- Participate and guide research and development into other similar projects including cryogenic temperature device operation, novel methods for energy harvesting, etc.
- Present RR&D work at conferences and contract reviews.
- Generate IP and patents related to research.
- Cooperate and provide technical support to team members and co-workers.
- Create new revenue streams for the company by writing proposals to government and private organizations and companies.
Requirements:
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
- Strong background in device modeling, device physics, numerical methods.
- Strong background and experience in wide bandgap semiconductors including Silicon Carbide and Gallium Nitride.
- Strong understanding and experience in designing analog circuits using application specific tools.
- Experience in writing scientific and technical proposals.
- Strong experience in programming languages (C, C++), scientific languages (MATLAB), and circuit design software (Cadence).
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Established record of peer-reviewed scientific publications is preferred.
Senior R&D Engineer
Job Summary: CoolCAD Electronics LLC seeks a professional and self-motivated individual for Senior Research and Development Engineer position. The ideal candidate will have strong analysis capability and experience in wireless sensor network system design and integration, embedded software design and synthesis for signal processing applications, as well as experience in digital hardware design for FPGA and ASICs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will conduct research in the area related to wireless sensor network applications for energy monitoring, and aid in the transition of the cutting-edge technologies to the commercial market. Responsibilities will include algorithm design, analysis, and development, both in simulation and laboratory environments. Develop embedded software for wireless protocol controls, interacting with various peripherals such as various types of sensors, flash memory, and serial communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.). Maintain, update, and add new hardware support to existing power electronic applications. Support related software integration tasks as needed. Support digital circuit design and layout as needed. Support research proposal writing as needed.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. degree in Computer Sciences or Computer Engineering.
- Must have strong C/C++ programming skills for embedded software.
- Must have strong Verilog programming skills for digital hardware design.
- Must have strong background in signal processing for sensor networks.
- The candidate should have a desire and an ability to grow into new science areas.
- Must have excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- The position will require the ability to work independently as well as small team projects.
Other desired skills include:
- Experience with Texas Instruments MSP430 and CC2430 platforms.
- Experience with Texas Instruments DSP processor and Code Composer Studio design tool.
- Experience embedded software development and ability to learn new processors and devices.
- Experience with ModelSim simulator and Cadence design tools.
- Experience with research proposal writing.
- Knowledge of globally asynchronous, locally synchronous (GALS) design methodology.
- Knowledge of ASIC design flow (from RTL to GDS).
- Knowledge of Xilinx FPGA architecture and ISE design tools.
