CoolCAD Electronics, LLC. is a CAD and custom electronics design firm that specializes in satisfying non-mainstream electronic design applications. CoolCAD Electronics has a very unique set of expertise in electronics design. This expertise ranges from nanostructure and device modeling, design and analysis, to integrated circuit design and layout, and all the way to printed circuit board level electronics development. This unique broad and deep expertise is derived from the capabilities of the CoolCAD Electronics technical team, as well as its just-in-time-operation-strategy. Our just-in-time business model takes advantage of the fact that CoolCAD Electronics has a very close relationship to faculty members and students at the University of Maryland, and thus can quickly draw on a huge reservoir of technical expertise without committing large resources. As revenues do grow in a particular area, especially CAD for electronics, we plan to hire professional designers as the need arises. We currently employ four Ph.D. level engineers (2 FTE), one MS level and four students. Based on revenue projections of the SiC project, we expect between ten and twenty jobs to be created as a result of this effort over the next five years. Since its establishment in 2006, CoolCAD Electronics LLC, has received substantial contracts and grants from leading governmental organizations including NASA, DARPA, ARL, as well as private industry.
